What is wrong with everyone hating on this amazing comedy? (by TheTopDawgCritic)
WOW is all I have to say. I read most of the negative reviews and everyone hating on Will and Amy but I'm unclear what everyone expects - from Will and Amy?! THIS film was their type of comedy - stupid enjoyable fun, and they finally pulled it off to perfection! I want to be clear, although a fan, I'm not a huge fan of either, but they nailed their roles and the comedy in this film that they redeemed themselves and I am now a huge fan of both! Nothing Amy has done in the past has ever made me laugh until now. This is finally the comedy from Will that I've been waiting for from <more>
his earlier days.A bunch of us went to see this and we were in stitches and crying in laughter - and no, we were not drunk or high! This is the funniest comedy I've seen this year and for that matter in a long time. It was very well written and directed and actually had an entertaining and for a change different type of story. All the actors were on point!Props to everyone involved! I really wish I could find out from all you 'supposedly' Will fans what more you all expected? It's the perfect comedy and if anyone thinks this is a fake review, check out my over 300 reviews and hundreds of ratings!A perfect 10/10 from me and I hope there is a part 2 very soon!
Duck reviewers, comedy movies are supposed to be bullshit, there not meant to be taken seriously, AND HAVE YOU SEEN THE MOTIVATIONAL speeches, oh hell no you didn't there are some life tips and this also shows gambling is a rip-off, I hate reviewers here, I'm sorry but they take things seriously, look who's more funny a serious guy that takes life too serious 1 a guy that say's the most bullshit and does not take life too serious 2I take 2 when you see these movies focus on the motivational sentences instead and the message, and if you want to laugh more at movies don't <more>
Wow! Troll's write negative review - its a good thing? (by edgy-827-486965)
Its really strange how many trolls here rate this film at 1|10 in they fake review, and I have no clue why is that and where need to write and ask clean this fakes . But, well film was good, and if you know what about typical Will Ferrel role is - this film looks really good. I think actually Kohen write a script around his character. Amy Poehler - is good in this, also as "I am Martha" - pretty funny. And yes its a "stupid" comedy, but in this case its a genre.
Front Runner Comedy for 2017 so far (by kevinwhitehead-09099)
I saw this film last night thinking it would completely suck, but my girlfriend wanted to see it. Amy Poehler has not really done anything good since Parks and Rec, and Will Ferrell's last good role was The Other Guys, so I was't excited for this. This movie had so many laugh out loud moments. I knew from the first couple minutes this was going to be good. There was non-stop laughter in the theater the entire movie. The cast was great with Poehler and Ferrell his best performance since Other Guys , Allison Tolman from Fargo, and Jason Mantzoukas who is in a lot of movies. The <more>
ensemble was funny and each character was a perfect fit. Although, the violence did get a little out of hand, you know what I mean if you saw it, but it was still an entertaining, fun, summer comedy that deserves a watch.
Look it is completely brainless humor.... So funny! Like all great comedy you either love it or hate it. I loved it!!!!
Pleasantly surprised! Wont win any awards but still funny and worth a watch (by kabir_kassam35)
After finding out that 2 of my favourite actors/actresses were the main characters for this movie I was so hyped for it originally until I saw most of the reviews. This has been on my watch list for a while and I finally got round to watching it expecting it to be abysmal but I was pleasantly surprised. Its a silly comedy film and won't win any awards for the plot or realism but I found myself laughing out loud at some of the scenes more than I expected to. As a huge fan of Will Ferrells films I would say its not quite the same level as Anchorman, Step Brothers or Talladega Nights but <more>
it's still hilarious in parts and worth a watch. I'd recommend this if you love gangster movies and also like a good comedy movie . I personally love gangster movies and these are 2 of my favourite comedy actors so this movie was perfect for me. Don't be put off by the reviews, it's still worth a watch!
Fun, Simple Will Ferrell Hilarity, (by lesleyharris30)
The House is a great movie with a well developed plot and a top notch comedic cast. It is a simple frat pack comedy, it does not do anything groundbreaking, only exactly what we would expect, it did not try to raise the standard, and that is fine by me. These type of comedies work, and are widely appealing to today's general age group of moviegoers, we get to watch actors have fun, and as a result of that, so do we. One thing I would say about it that was underwhelming was when it tried to be meaningful, I have no problem with a movie that may initially seem like a straight up comedy <more>
actually having some heart, but it felt very forced and shoe horned in here. Trying to convey the two main characters ambitions to get their daughter in to college simply does not work when a scene five minutes before that showed them getting drunk and struggling to quietly enter their home. The cast is absolutely hilarious, I have no gripes with each casting, and the chemistry between everyone was phenomenal. Will Ferrell shines as always, clearly going off script on many occasions, his chemistry with Amy Poehler was great, as was she, they seemed very at ease with each other. It was great to finally see Jason Mantzoukas in a main role, he has shined in several other comedies in minor parts, as well as many stellar appearances in Brooklyn Nine Nine, I was delighted to finally see him play a major character, and hope to see more from this special comic in the future. Nick Kroll is also great, playing a very unlikeable character, he continues to surprise me in every role he plays, showcasing furthermore that he is a very versatile comedic actor. Great fun from beginning to end. Hilarious and with a stellar group of comedians, The House is definitely worth the watch for anybody looking for a good comedy. Two parents start an illegal casino in their friend's house in order to make enough money to get their daughter to college. Best Performance: Will Ferrell
Never laughed so hard in cinema before. (by itiskashif)
I have watched many movies but never compelled to write a review. Here is my first one. Yes, the movie was that good. Never laughed so hard in cinema before.I was fortunate to catch the premiere show. And boy was it fun. After a couple of so-so movies from Will Ferrell last year, this one surely shines. The chemistry of Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler is amazing. There are plenty of good laughs in the movie. Thoroughly enjoyable. My recommendation, head out to the cinema with a clear head and a box of popcorn. You won't be disappointed.
